How Megan Belanger Photography came about...
I never was much a fan of school, so I decided to go to a vocational high school, where I took health occupations. I graduated high school with my CNA, and loved caring for people in need, which I continued to do for about three years after high school. It was not easy work, and I found myself second guessing what I wanted to do for a career. I started taking photos with my point and shoot camera, and found it extremely enjoyable, and I felt at ease. I upgraded to my first digital SLR and instantly fell in love. After family and friends encouraged me to attend photography school, I applied to New England School of Photography, and got my letter of acceptance within 2 weeks. I was beyond thrilled. It felt so good to get into a college, right off the bat! (I never had much luck with college acceptance letters, lol) After orientation, I remember feeling extremely overwhelmed, you would never think photography school would be so intense, but o m g, it was not an easy 2 years. I met amazing people, and I lucked out meeting a great guy too. ;) Somehow I managed to survive, pay bills on 2 hours of part time work a week, and see my friends if I was lucky! After graduating in june of 2010, I continued to work part time at another job, while doing lots of photography work as well. The winter months came, and things got slow, so I added another job into the mix, I became a home health aide, working with a woman with Alzheimers once a week. The sleepless nights working overnight, editing, shooting, all while having a social life too, was not easy, but I knew it was all worth it, and finally I achieved my goal 2 years early of opening my own studio. It was a big decision, but I am so glad I gained the confidence to go for it, because I have never been happier, or more proud of myself. Hard work really does pay off! I could go on forever about what I like to eat ( everything ) and do for fun, but that would probably bore you, and we wouldn't have much to talk about at our next shoot! I feel so blessed to be able to capture life's little moments for clients, and I look forward to doing so for many many years to come. So shoot me an email, or give me a call, and let's start capturing memories that will last a life time!
